Surviving Versus Thriving: Reflecting on moral distress and adding gratitude as a coping skill

The last two and a half years have been very challenging for nurses and other healthcare workers due to the COVID-19 pandemic and has contributed to increased levels of moral distress and moral injury among health care workers.  This CE will provide you with valuable information about suicide prevention, moral resilience, and the importance of including the practice of gratitude as a coping skill.

Session objectives:

  1. Define terms surrounding moral injury and moral distress
  2. Apply the concept of moral resilience to decrease risk of suicide
  3. Synthesize a beginning gratitude practice to build personal coping skills.

Participants that complete the CE presentation and post-test/evaluation in their entirety and pass the post-test with 80% or higher, will receive an electronic certificate via email. RNs completing the activity will receive 1 contact hour of continuing education.

The Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
