Sessions

Session 1 – RN Accountability for Delegation Decisions
Presenter: Tom Bissonnette, MS, RN, CAE
MNA Associate Executive Director for Nursing Practice who wrote the MNA online CE on this same topic, Tom is a clinical nurse specialist in geriatric mental health who has held a variety of clinical positions in a variety of clinical settings in his 30 year career as a nurse.
Upon completion of this session the participant will:
• Describe the legal parameters for RN delegation decisions in Michigan• Identify professional guidelines to assist RNs with delegation decisions
• List RN competencies needed for delegation

Session 2 – Health and Safety Issues in the Nursing Workplace
Presenter: Cindy LaFountain, MPA, BS
MNA Associate Executive Director for Field Operations, Cindy supervises MNA’s staff support to over fifty local bargaining units. Cindy has had close encounters with a variety of health and safety issues during her twenty year career in human resources and organized labor.
Upon completion of this session the participant will:
• Describe health and safety issues in the nursing workplace
• Identify the impact of health and safety concerns on nurses
• Describe strategies to improve nurses’ health and safety

Session 3 – Legislative Issues Affecting Your Nursing Practice

Upon completion of this session the participant will
• Identify legislative issues affecting nursing practice in the State of Michigan

Contact hours

4.0 contact hours will be awarded to RNs who are in attendance for the entire day, and complete the evaluation.
